The swiss army knife of a netbook case

I have been looking and looking and looking for a decent case for my 11.6 netbook. Not easy to find. Most cases are either for 15 inch or 10 inch. Other cases are more designed for appearance too, trying to stay withing the usual norms and tradition. I was never in favor of messenger bags because of the usually large overlap cover that becomes heavy with stuff inside the pocket and is cumbersome to open. Then I found this case. A backpack convertible messenger bag. I don't use it as a backpack since I work more professionally. But wow, I can now fit my 11.6 netbook, Kindle DX with leather cover, a full size leather padfolio, and other accessories. I no longer have to transfer things from one bag to another when flying. Not sure if this bag will be right for everyone, but it fits my stuff perfectly. Will fit a 13 inch laptop too.
It is not common that online purchases (or even store bought) led to such immediate satisfaction. |
Compact and lightweight; great for documents and small laptops.

I use this mostly as a backpack because I need weight to be distributed equally on both shoulders. I travel on public transportation in Europe where buses tend to get very crowded, and it's great to have something so thin that can be easily taken off and held like a briefcase.
I had to double-up the remaining strip on the loops of the shoulder straps (near where they snap to the backpack's bottom) because the nylon there is very slippery and the straps kept sliding.
The flap that covers the laptop leaves the edges on both sides slightly uncovered, which is not very good if it's raining strongly.
The strap for messenger-modality is permanently attached on one side, so you can't get rid of it and have to hide it in the main compartment or take over the bottle pouch. It would be better if it were completely removable.
Other than that, it's a very nice, sturdy, practical and convenient piece. Highly recommended. |
This bag rocks!

I bought this bag to hold my 11.6'' HP mini and it's perfect.
I like to keep my netbook inside a sleeve (this sleeve: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002SOJ37C/ref=oss_product )and the notebook slides right into this backpack while inside the sleeve. No jamming or tight fits - just perfect! The opening for the computer is on the top and is separate from the flap, so I don't have to mess around with opening a giant flap to slide my computer out.
Just as important is the amount of storage available for the power brick and cables. They fit perfectly into the large pouch underneath the flap.
The little pouch on the side holds my small mouse, which is a tight fit but I imagine it would hold most "netbook" or "travel size" mice just fine. This is my mouse: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H87IIC/ref=oss_product The mesh pouch on the other side is fairly snug and I haven't found a use for it yet, as my water bottles are too large to fit. There are plenty of other zippered pouches all over this bag, though, so there are plenty of places to stash pens, small notepads, flash drives, and more.
The shoulder straps can be detached and kept inside a compartment on the back of the bag if you choose to carry the bag by hand, but I have only used it as a backpack and cannot comment on how it works as an over-the-shoulder or a hand-held bag.
The only improvement I would make on this bag is to offer it a color other than plain old black! :) I know, I know, big deal, right? :D
Overall, I love this bag and I would recommend it to netbook owners looking for a comfortable, lightweight backpack. |

I purchased this bag to hold my 10 inch Acer Aspire Netbook. This bag holds everything I need to hold all of my accessories for the computer and then some! It holds all my cords, my iPod, mouse, etc. All tucked conveniently in the many pouches and zipper pockets. Now there are no worries as to where I'm going to put my stuff when I am going on a plane trip, road trip, or even to the beach!
This bag is a must buy for all who have a 10 inch Netbook and other accessories. I highly recommend it! |
Not for everyone.

There are other positive reviews about this item, but I don't think this product is for everyone; let me explain:
First of all I was looking for a bag for my recently purchased Alienware M11X. I decided to try this bag out because of the price, its size and other attractive features like several pockets and ability to use as backpack or shoulder bag. It's hard to find small bags for netbooks and small laptops, so I gave this a shot.
I have to say that I was disappointed with the quality of the product, it just feels cheap even though it might last some time with good care (for the price I guess its ok but still cheap). But the biggest disappointment comes from the laptop compartment. Not only does it not have enough (or any) padding for protection but also it kind of leaves your computer in the open (since it doesnt have a good closing mechanism like a dedicated zipper or something). The texture on the inside of the compartment is too rugged and I'm afraid to even put my computer inside since it might scratch the beautiful case finish that it has. Like some other reviewer said, using a protective sleeve with this bag might be a better approach but that's one more thing to purchase.
I refuse to carry my valuable Alienware (M11x) in this bag, it doesn't feel safe enough., and It's not even worth returning because of the shipping charges etc, so now I'm kinda stuck with it. I can still use it to carry other things though it is kinda handy, and that's why I gave it 3 stars. Good price, several features and good size but definitely not for everyone.
